Welcome to Islam

Introduction to Islam

About Us

We offer classes and support to new Muslims seeking to learn more about the faith of Islam, as well as those considering becoming Muslims.

Our courses are free, but donations are always welcome as they allow us to continue offering courses. This course covers the very basic parts of the six articles of faith; the five pillars of Islam as well as the basic lifestyle of a Muslim. This is a foundation course intended as a practical guide to living life as a Muslim without cultural influences. The modules will give basic information and general rules with the opportunity to ask questions about any issue at the end of each session.

Focus on the Fundamentals

Since you’ve already taken your Shahada (the declaration of faith), you have started the first pillar.

Establish a Connection with the Quran

You don't need to read the whole book in one sitting.

Find Community

Islam isn't meant to be practiced in total isolation.

Cleanliness and Ritual Purity (Tahara)

In Islam, physical cleanliness is deeply tied to spiritual readiness.

Adjusting Your Diet (Halal)

You don’t need to throw out everything in your pantry today, but start making conscious choice

Developing a "God-Conscious" Mindset (Taqwa)

Islam isn't just something you do five times a day; it’s a way of seeing the world.

Revert Support

Support for New Muslims

We understand that sometimes you may need more specialised help than we can provide.

Below are organisations that can support you as a Revert and New Muslim.

Please know you are never alone—there are always people ready to listen and help.

How To Become a Muslim

To become a Muslim, you must declare the Shahada with conviction, the testimony of faith: "Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasulullah" (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His messenger)

New Muslim Classes

Surrey Mosque a great place to learn Islamic studies. We have covered all the important points in this course regarding Aqidah, Fiqh, everything is explained really well also providing help and support to people who have converted to or are interested in learning more about Islam for over a decade.

Community and Support

That’s where the New Muslim Academy comes in. When you become a member of the New Muslim Academy, you’ll have access to a great community of people and resources that are relevant to your needs. RIC instructors are highly qualified and have been teaching Islam around the globe for many years.

Physical & Spiritual

Take a Ritual Bath (Ghusl): It is highly recommended (and required by many scholars) for a new Muslim to take a full bath or shower after converting. This symbolizes washing away the past and starting your new life clean. The Intention (Niyyah): In Islam, everything starts with your heart. Simply tell yourself, "I am doing this to follow God’s command and start my journey as a Muslim."

We are Ahle Sunnat Wa Jammat is the largest group of Muslims and the only group whose beliefs and teachings are truly in accord ance with the Noble Qur’an and Sunnah of the Most Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) and Promoting the love of the Ahl al-Bayt (the family of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ).

Seal of the Prophets (Arabic: خاتم النبيين) signifies that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stands as the final messenger in a long line of prophets sent by Allah SubhanAllah (سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّٰهِ) (God). This notion confirms that no prophet will come after him.“When 'Syedna Hazrat Ali Bin Abi Talib (AS) described Allah’s Messenger (Allah SubhanAllah (سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّٰهِ) bless him and give him peace)— then he related the tradition in full—he said: 'Between his shoulders was the Seal of Prophethood, for he is the Seal of the Prophets'."

Jummah takes place at 1.30pm all year round.

We have many organised visits from local schools, colleges, universities, community groups and individuals. For further details visit our contact page.

You should keep food and drinks out of the mosque, except in designated eating areas. You should also avoid bringing animals into the mosque.

Some mosques have separate areas for women. Some mosques offer classes, such as Arabic classes, Quranic instruction, and youth activities.
