Islamic Marriage (Nikah)

“And of His signs is that He created for you mates from your own selves that you may take comfort in them, and He ordained affection and mercy between you. There are indeed signs in that for a people who reflect.” (Quran 30:21)

Family life is the building block of a successful society, and marriage is an occasion of great joy in the Muslim community. Redhill Jamia Masjid facilitates the solemnisation of an Islamic contract of marriage. The newly-married couple are provided with an official ‘Nikah’ certificate to show they have been married according to Islamic Law.

"The Nikah fee is currently £250 if carried out within the Masjid and £400 if carried out outside the Masjid.!"

We recommend that Nikah is booked at least 3 weeks prior to the planned date.

Please also be aware that the summer months are a busy time for Nikah ceremonies so please book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Please note the booking received within 24 hours will be subject to approval.

Civil Marriage

IMPORTANT

We are among the few Mosques in Surrey that provide English civil marriages alongside the Islamic Nikah. We have authorized registrars available for this purpose.

Please be aware that if you wish to have the civil marriage conducted, you must first reach out to the local registrar’s office, giving them 28 days’ notice of your intention to hold a civil marriage at the Mosque.

They will schedule an appointment for you to collect your marriage schedule, which must be presented at the ceremony once it has been arranged with us. We advise you to take the timelines into account before finalizing a date for your ceremony.

Please be aware that civil marriages cannot take place at external locations and are only conducted alongside the Islamic Nikah. Additionally, we do not accept civil marriage reservations after 2pm. Kindly consider this when making your booking.

It is a matter of courtesy to respect the time indicated on the booking form. Our Imams and registrars have very busy schedules and dedicate their time to facilitate marriage ceremonies.

Unfortunately, there is a growing trend where individuals specify a time on the form but arrive significantly later, assuming that the Imams and registrars have no other commitments.

If applicants do not arrive within 30 minutes of the scheduled time, we reserve the right to cancel the booking. This cancellation would not be the fault of the Mosque management. Additionally, please be aware that this issue seems to occur primarily at Mosques and is less common at non-Muslim institutions.
